ROTARY CLUB OF DAMARISCOTTA-NEWCASTLE INVITES APPLICATIONS FOR VOCATIONAL GRANTS AND TOOLS-OF-THE-TRADE GRANTS

In an effort to help residents and/or employees of Lincoln County Maine to acquire or upgrade their employment skills, the Rotary Club of Damariscotta-Newcastle has a grant program available.  (See www.dnmrotary.org for information and application)

During the past year, the club has assisted people of all ages to increase their skills as well as learn practical skills if they live or work in Lincoln County.

The State of Maine scholarship program (the high school class of 2025 is the last to have tuition and mandatory fees at its seven community colleges waived) has decreased the number of applications for tuition at the community college level received, but increased the number of requests for the tools necessary for such programs as Automotive Technology, Heating Technology, HVAC and Electrical programs.

Examples of careers supported by training grants awarded include Welding, Registered Nurse, Speech Language Pathologist, Plumbing and HVAC, Culinary Arts, Cosmetology, Electrician, Firefighter and Construction.

These grants are awarded throughout the year and support entry level training as well as continuing education.  For further information, see the website or dnmrotary@gmail.com
